About Us

Our mission and purpose is to help the public understand and appreciate the national significance and impact of the migration along the National Mormon trail between the years 1846-1869.

The National Mormon Trail is not just a trail; it’s an enduring narrative of courage and community. With the trail’s recognition as a national treasure in 1978, a federal mandate was established to ensure its stories and sagas were stewarded by a dedicated citizens group. This group, originally established in the 90s and revitalized today, is a bridge connecting Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, and Utah in service and fellowship.

Our legacy stems from the people dedicated to this path—giants upon whose shoulders we stand. As pioneering spirits passed on, the embers of their passion dimmed, but today, the torch has been reignited with a fervor that spans across states. The National Mormon Trails Association is more than an organization; it’s a community revived and animated with purpose.
